For groups larger than 8 pax, the best way to visit the Amalfi Coast, is by car or minivan. Minibuses are a lot harder to maneuver down to the town center of Positano, along with the parking issues. It is preferable to split the group into smaller vehicles, although the cost will be slightly higher, the group will still travel together throughout the tour and it will be a much better experience.

There you must leave the car because streets leading to the waterfront are for pedestrians only. After our delicious lunch we will continue on foot to the cathedral; shops selling ceramics, lemons, shoes and clothing line the avenues on the way. A slow uphill drive along a very narrow road past several wineries and olive factories leads to Ravello, a rural village un-tainted by tourism, perched on top of the mountain cliff above Amalfi and Minori. Ravello, is famous for its breath-taking views, natural beauty and ancient monuments, presented at their best in the breathtaking gardens of Villa Cimbrone and Villa Rufolo. There are also many classical concerts held in the gardens of Villa Rufolo, located just off the main square of Ravello, tickets cost approximately 20,00 Euro each. Apart from the main cathedral, and history museum there are many other churches to visit. Along the narrow arches of Via Roma you will find a few small boutiques, and scattered around the vicinity are some traditional local restaurants with a cuisine quite different from those close to the sea; Cumpà Cosimo, Da Salvatore, Villa Maria and Villa Amore, are all exceptional in their own ways.

The remainder of the uncovered city is today buried under the new Pompeii rebuilt many years subsequent to the eruption. Archeological excavations are open to the public between the hours of 09:00 and 6:00 every day of the week, guides can be hired at the entrance or headphones can be rented, voicing explanations of the sites. Please note that since Pompeii is a popular area for tourists, we strongly recommend being cautious of your belongings!

A short drive through the town and we will arrive at it’s centre – a major shopping mall for the local people as well as tourists, with many stores (normally open all day, every day in the summer, but during the low season between 09:00am – 1:00 then 5:00 – 10:00, approximately). The Pizzeria’s in town are highly recommended, otherwise, the famous restaurant Don Alfonso that holds 3 Michelin stars, and is located in the nearby village of Sant’Agata. Sorrento, also being a city from the past, has an interesting history museum “Correale di Terranova” that can be visited in the morning only.

Herculaneum is an ancient residential town of Greek origin that was destroyed and buried in ashes, along with Pompeii, by the eruption of the volcano Vesuvius in 79 A.D and offers a variety of beautiful scenery and invaluable artifacts. Excavations began by accident in 1709 when some workers were digging a well discovered a wall which was later found to be one of the stages of the ancient theatre. The ruins can be visited at a cost of Euro 10,00 per person, but please note that since both Pompeii and Herculaneum are popular areas for tourists, we strongly recommend keeping track of your belongings.
Thousands of prosperous citizens would have sought comfort in the majesty of Mount Vesuvius and regarded it as nothing less than a gift from the gods. In those days of abundant plenty, no Neapolitan would have anticipated the hidden threat of their beloved mountain that erupted violently during the morning of August 24, AD 79, unceremoniously removing all surrounding cities within radius of Vesuvius. Since then, Vesuvius has erupted about three dozen times and was thought to be the end of an eruptive cycle that began in 1631, however unpredictably the last eruption of Vesuvius was on 23 November 1980. We will view the crater of Vesuvius, 1281 meters above sea level, by walking for approximately 45 minutes up the steep mount, as the road for vehicles terminates half way up this climb. Giving way to spectacular views of the surrounding countryside.

Caserta is famous for the enchanting Royal Palace, surrounding gardens and spectacular fountains, which were acquired in the mid 18th century by the Bourbon King Charles III. The palace is rich in chandeliers, gilded frescoes, and impressive tapestries; has a grand total of over 1,200 rooms and 1790 windows. It designed and began building in 1752 by Luigi Vanvitelli and his son, and was not considered completed until the Throne Room was finished in 1847. Amongst a fishpond, natural woodland and masses of shrubbery and flora, there is a 75-meter high waterfall in the gardens, which is clearly visible from the palace located just 3 km away.

Naples is a city that should be toured WITHOUT wearing any jewelry, and ladies should not be carrying handbags, though it is a beautiful place there is always a need to be cautious in places with a lot of people. Visit the museum of National Archaeology, cloister of Santa Chiara, the shopping mall “Galleria Umberto”, and theatre of San Carlo. The vacant Royal Palace of the former Royal family rests in Piazza Plebiscito and the the castle of Maschio Angioino are also open for viewing.

Visit the museum of National Archaeology and the Museum Capodimonte that exhibits works of Renaissance and baroque masters. See the cathedral of San Gennaro, the impressing churches of San Lorenzo and Gesù Nuovo, the charterhouse of San Martino and the cloister of Santa Chiara. There is also the theatre of San Carlo and a nearby bar “Cambrinus” which inherited its name from all the artists that used to drink there after exiting the theatre. Sampling an authentic Neapolitan pizza is recommend the restaurant “Brandi” that is found along the popular shopping street of Via Chiaia.

Thousands of prosperous citizens would have sought comfort in the majesty of Mount Vesuvius and regarded it as nothing less than a gift from the gods. In those days of abundant plenty, no Neapolitan would have anticipated the hidden threat of their beloved mountain that erupted violently during the morning of August 24, AD 79, unceremoniously removing all surrounding cities within radius of Vesuvius. Since then, Vesuvius has erupted about three dozen times and was thought to be the end of an eruptive cycle that began in 1631, however unpredictably the last eruption of Vesuvius was on 23 November 1980. We will view the crater of Vesuvius, 1281 meters above sea level, by walking for approximately 45 minutes up the steep mount, as the road for vehicles terminates half way up this climb. Giving way to spectacular views of the surrounding countryside.
